From the gravels of Pauillac, the Carruades de Lafite 2023 is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild. It blends Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot. Aged 16 months in oak barrels, it captivates with its aromas of red fruits and cedar. Its silky, mineral palate delivers an elegant finish. Perfect with game or cheeses through 2035.
Heir to a Bordeaux wine heritage dating back to 1620, this family estate embodies the excellence of the Pauillac appellation, where each cuvée reflects the soul of an exceptional terroir.
- Terroir: Fine gravel and sandy soils over limestone subsoils on the Carruades plateau, lending the wines a distinctive minerality and rare elegance.
- Vinification: A precise blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, rigorously aged in French oak barrels for an expression that is both powerful and refined.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild Carruades de Lafite 2023
To the eye: A deep ruby-red robe with garnet reflections, of a silky texture and crystalline brilliance that already hints at its precision.
On the nose: Aromas of fresh blackcurrant and wild blackberry intertwine with notes of toasted cedar and blonde tobacco, lifted by a saline touch and a chalky minerality characteristic of the terroir.
On the palate: A lively and taut attack, where silky tannins envelop a well-balanced acidity, while a long, saline finish leaves a persistent mineral impression.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromas.
