The Château Haut-Brion 2012, Premier Grand Cru Classé, is born from the gravelly soils of Pessac-Léognan. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it captivates with its aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant. Its silky palate and elegant tannins make it a wine to cellar until 2052.
Château Haut-Brion
A pioneer of the Grands Crus of Bordeaux since 1549, this family estate rooted in Pessac embodies the excellence of an exceptional terroir, shaped by five centuries of history and an unrelenting pursuit of precision.
- Terroir: Gravelly and clay-limestone soils of Pessac-Léognan, where the temperate oceanic climate elevates the ripeness of the grape varieties, bestowing upon the wines a distinctive minerality and a rare elegance.
- Vinification: A meticulous blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, aged in new oak barrels for a harmony between power and finesse, reflecting a philosophy of perfect balance.
Tasting notes for Château Haut-Brion Haut-Brion 2012
Appearance: A deep red robe with garnet reflections, of silky density and crystalline clarity, heralding a wine that is both generous and refined.
Nose: A bouquet where wild blackberry and fresh blackcurrant intertwine, lifted by notes of soft liquorice, a hint of cedar and a subtle mineral saltiness, like an echo of the gravelly terroir.
Palate: A velvety attack, carried by chalky-textured tannins and a lively acidity, which unfolds a complex aromatic palette – black fruits, gentle spices and a long finish, marked by a persistent minerality and a taut elegance.
Serve between 16 and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2012
A vintage marked by capricious weather, where the winemaker's rigour made the most of a dry summer to deliver a wine of remarkable tension, combining freshness and depth.
