Château Lafite Rothschild
Nestled in the heart of Pauillac, this legendary estate combines family heritage and viticultural excellence since 1868. An exceptional terroir where the elegance of its wines transcends the centuries.
- Terroir: Deep gravel and calcareous clays of Pauillac, cradle of the great Bordeaux wines, shaping wines of remarkable minerality and tension.
- Vinification: Precise blending, patient aging in oak barrels, for cuvées of unrivalled purity and length on the palate.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild Carruades de Lafite 1964
To the eye: A garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density, betraying age with a rare elegance and a crystalline brilliance.
On the nose: First, aromas of candied blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by deeper notes of blonde tobacco, aged leather and black truffle, all underlined by a saline touch and a hint of cedar.
On the palate: A velvety, almost unctuous texture, where a lively acidity and a chalky minerality intertwine, carried by melted tannins and a finish of bewitching length, marked by gentle spices and a hint of liquorice.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1964
A vintage of balance and maturity, where the mild summer and clement autumn allowed the grapes to reach an ideal aromatic concentration.
- Aging potential: To be enjoyed today or cellared for another 10 to 15 years under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity and away from light).
