Tasting notes for Château Cheval Blanc 2005
To the eye – A deep ruby robe with garnet reflections, of velvety density and crystalline brilliance, heralding a generous and precise palate.
On the nose – A bouquet where the freshness of wild blackberries and morello cherries mingles first, before notes of violet, liquorice and a chalky touch emerge, like a mineral breath rising from the gravelly soils.
On the palate – A silky, almost caressing attack, carried by a lively acidity and a remarkably fine tannic framework; the minerality stretches into a saline finish of persistent length and taut elegance.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its complexity.
Vintage 2005
A sunny, balanced vintage where the ripeness of the fruit meets a tannic structure of rare precision, promising a harmonious evolution.
- Aging potential: 15 to 25 years, to be stored under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity).
