Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 2005
To the eye – A deep red robe with garnet reflections, dense and silky, like a liquid velvet that already announces the richness of this great Pauillac. On the nose – First aromas of ripe blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by deeper notes of cedar, graphite and a hint of pencil lead, all lifted by a subtle salinity evoking the Atlantic breezes of the Médoc. On the palate – A smooth yet taut texture, where lively acidity and chalky minerality balance with remarkably fine tannins, leading to a persistently long finish marked by gentle spices and aristocratic elegance. Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its bouquet.
