Born from the gravels of Saint-Estèphe, the Calon Ségur 1986 (3rd Grand Cru Classé) blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Aged in oak barrels, it captivates with its silky tannins, notes of cedar and red currant, and its chalky minerality. To be enjoyed until 2040 with game or aged cheeses.
A legendary estate anchored in the heart of Saint-Estèphe, where the history of Bordeaux's great wines has been written for centuries.
- Terroir : The Quaternary gravelly soils resting on a clay subsoil give the wines a mineral structure and an elegance typical of the appellation.
- Vinification : A classic approach combining tradition and precision, producing cuvées that are both powerful and refined, aged in French oak barrels.
Tasting notes for Château Calon Ségur 1986
- Appearance : A deep garnet-red robe with tawny highlights, revealing a dense and silky texture.
- Nose : A complex bouquet where aromas of fresh cedar, blond tobacco, crunchy red currant, and a subtle hint of mineral graphite intertwine.
- Palate : A firm and structured attack, carried by tannins that are still present yet well-integrated, a lively acidity, and a long finish marked by notes of undergrowth and a chalky salinity.
To be served between 16 and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromas.
Vintage 1986
A vintage marked by optimal grape maturity, yielding full-bodied and well-balanced wines, typical of the great years of the Médoc.
- Ageing potential : To be cellared until 2040 under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity, and away from light).
