Château Mouton Rothschild 2005, Premier Cru Classé of Pauillac, was born on the gravels of the Médoc. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (85%), Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged in new oak barrels, it unveils dark fruits, spices and silky tannins. Ideal with red meats and game after 20 years.
Nestled at the heart of Pauillac, this legendary estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence for generations, combining family tradition and artistic innovation.
- Terroir : 82 hectares of pebbly gravel over a clay-limestone subsoil, a mineral setting where Cabernet Sauvignon thrives under the temperate climate of the Médoc.
- Vinification : Aging in new oak barrels, rigorous selection of berries and precise blending for wines of a structure that is both powerful and refined.
Tasting notes for Château Mouton Rothschild Mouton Rothschild 2005
To the eye – A deep purple robe with garnet reflections, dense and silky, like a liquid velvet capturing the light.
On the nose – First, notes of ripe blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by a bouquet of sweet spices (liquorice, black pepper), toasted cedar and a mineral touch reminiscent of flint.
On the palate – A broad and generous attack, carried by velvety tannins and a lively acidity that provides an elegant tension; the long and saline finish reveals nuances of light tobacco and bitter cacao.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its complexity.
Vintage 2005
A sun-drenched vintage, marked by a perfect balance between fruit ripeness and mineral freshness, the result of a dry summer and an ideal autumn.
- Aging potential : To be cellared for 20 to 30 years in a cool cellar (12–14°C) and away from light, to allow its tertiary aromas to fully develop.
