The Château Rieussec 2001, Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes, combines Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc on clay-limestone soils. Nose of apricot, honey and candied citrus. Balanced, sweet and lively palate. Ideal for aging, it pairs beautifully with foie gras or fruit-based desserts.
A legendary estate rooted in the terroir of Sauternes, where excellence has been passed down through generations under the stewardship of the Domaines Barons de Rothschild.
- Terroir: Gravelly and clay-limestone soils of the Sauternes appellation, bathed in the morning mists of the Garonne, which encourage the development of noble rot.
- Vinification: Rigorous selection of botrytized berries, slow fermentation in barrels and patient aging to reveal aromatic complexity and a silky texture.
Tasting notes for Château Rieussec Rieussec 2001
To the eye – A golden robe with amber highlights, dense and luminous, like liquid honey captured in the glass.
On the nose – A generous bouquet where candied apricot, honeyed melon, candied citrus and a touch of saffron mingle, carried by a saline minerality that evokes the river mists.
On the palate – A delicate, almost ethereal attack that blossoms into a smooth and vibrant texture, where the taut acidity balances the sweet richness, leaving a long and chalky finish of mineral purity.
Serve at 8–10°C in a Bordeaux-style white wine glass to enhance its complexity.

- Aging potential: 20 to 30 years, to be stored in a cool (12–14°C) and humid cellar, away from light.
