Tasting notes for Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 1996
Appearance: Deep ruby color with brick-red highlights and a silky depth that promises generous substance and harmonious development.
On the nose: Aromas of jammy black fruit intertwine with notes of damp woodland floor, aged cedar, and worn leather, lifted by a floral hint of honeysuckle and a subtle saline touch.
On the palate: A velvety yet taut texture, with lively acidity balancing rich fruit, while mineral nuances and a long finish carried by supple tannins evoke chalk and sweet spice.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy glass to bring out its full complexity.
1996 vintage
A Northern Rhône vintage marked by optimal ripeness, with cool nights preserving balance and the finesse of the tannins.
- Aging potential: At its peak today, this wine can still be kept for another 10 years in a cool cellar (12–14°C), away from light.
