The Volnay 1er Cru Clos du Château des Ducs 2020, monopole of Domaine Michel Lafarge, comes from clay-limestone soils. This Pinot Noir, aged in barrels, offers notes of cherry, flowers and spices. On the palate: silk, freshness and chalky minerality. Perfect from 2027 onwards with refined dishes.

Heir to a family savoir-faire since the 19th century, this domaine de Volnay embodies the exacting standards and fidelity to the Burgundian terroir.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils of the Volnay hillsides, cradle of the great Pinot Noirs, where each plot reveals a chalky minerality and a natural elegance.
- Vinification: Traditional methods – manual destemming, ageing in oak barrels – for precise, taut wines of rare purity.

To the eye: Deep garnet robe with ruby highlights, of a silky and luminous texture.
On the nose: Freshness of morello cherry and crisp raspberry, then notes of violet and liquorice, followed by a saline touch and a hint of damp undergrowth, evoking the chalk of the soils.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by an elegant acidity and a chalky minerality; silky tannins envelop a long, saline finish, where the echo of ripe red fruits lingers.
Serve between 14 and 16°C, in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2020
A vintage marked by early ripeness and remarkable aromatic concentration, where the mineral freshness of the Volnay terroir expresses itself with rare clarity.
- Ageing potential: To be kept until 2036, or even beyond for lovers of mature wines, in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
