Tasting notes for Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Pitures 2018 Magnum
To the eye: A garnet red robe with deep reflections, of a silky and luminous texture, heralding a wine that is at once dense and airy.
On the nose: Aromas of Morello cherry, fresh violet and wild blackberry, lifted by a hint of liquorice and a subtle chalky minerality, evoking the limestone soils of Pitures.
On the palate: A precise and taut attack, where vibrant acidity, silky tannins and a saline finish intertwine, carried by an elegant and persistent length.
Serve between 14 and 16°C in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
2018 Vintage
A generous yet balanced vintage, in which the summer heat ripened the grapes without altering the characteristic freshness of Volnay wines.
- Ageing potential: 10 to 15 years, to be stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
