The Vieux Château Certan 1995, from the clay-gravel soils of Pomerol, blends Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Ruby robe, nose of violet and blackcurrant, aged in new oak barrels. Velvety palate, chalky minerality, fine tannins. Perfect with a beef fillet or aged cheeses.
Nestled at the heart of Pomerol, this family estate has embodied the quiet elegance of the great Bordeaux wines for five centuries. A heritage preserved by the Thienpont family, where each bottle tells the story of the alliance between terroir and time.
- Terroir: Gravelly and clay soils of Pomerol, on the Right Bank, giving the wines a silky structure and a chalky minerality.
- Vinification: Respect for the emblematic grape varieties – Merlot, Cabernet Franc – and aging in new oak barrels for a pure and precise expression of the fruit.
Tasting notes for Vieux Château Certan 1995
To the eye: A deep ruby robe with violet reflections, of velvety density, betraying the preserved youth of this vintage.
On the nose: Aromas of fresh violet and ripe blackcurrant, lifted by notes of prune and dried flowers, with a saline touch in the background.
On the palate: A silky and taut texture, where lively acidity meets fine tannins and a chalky minerality, leading to a long, fruity finish.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its complexity.
Vintage 1995
A vintage marked by balanced maturity, where cool nights preserved the brilliance of the aromas and the tension of the tannins.
- Aging potential: To be enjoyed until 2030, stored away from light and temperature variations.
