The Pétrus 1999 draws its strength from the blue clay of Pomerol. This Merlot (96%), aged 20 months in new oak barrels, offers aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and truffle. Its silky, well-balanced palate promises aging potential through 2030. Perfect with truffle-stuffed pheasant.
Nestled in the heart of Pomerol, Pétrus embodies the excellence of a family terroir where heritage intertwines with a perpetual quest for perfection.
- Terroir: A unique blue clay plateau, 40 million years old, imparts a mineral depth and an unmatched structure to the wines.
- Vinification: A rigorous selection of berries, aging in new oak barrels, and infinite patience shape cuvées of rare elegance.
Tasting notes for Pétrus 1999
To the eye – A deep garnet-red robe of silky density, where light dances with an almost liquid intensity.
On the nose – First notes of black cherry and wild blackberry, followed by a breath of violet and truffle, before opening onto accents of liquorice, roasted coffee, and a saline touch reminiscent of the terroir's clay.
On the palate – A velvety, almost fleshy texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality; the long, taut finish releases echoes of cedar and undergrowth.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to unlock its full complexity.
