Château Latour
Nestled in the heart of the Médoc, this legendary estate has embodied viticultural excellence since the 14th century, combining family heritage with geological precision.
- Terroir: The gravelly soils of Pauillac, bathed by the Gironde estuary, where the old vines of the Enclos – Gravettes, Sarmentier – draw a unique minerality.
- Vinification: A rigorous parcel selection, aging in French oak barrels, and infinite patience to reveal the quintessence of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tasting notes for Château Latour 1998
To the eye: A deep garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of silky density and crystalline brilliance.
On the nose: First aromas of ripe blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by notes of cedar, blond tobacco and a hint of black truffle, all underscored by a subtle mineral salinity.
On the palate: A velvety, almost fleshy texture, carried by a lively acidity and a mineral tension that stretches into a long and elegant finish, where black fruits and gentle spices intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its complex aromas.
Vintage 1998
A vintage marked by optimal grape maturity, offering a perfect balance between power and finesse for this Premier Grand Cru Classé.
- Aging potential: This wine, already at its peak, can continue to improve for several decades under ideal storage conditions (13°C and 70% humidity).
