A pillar of the Médoc, this historic estate has embodied the excellence of Pauillac wines since the 14th century.
- Terroir: Deep gravel and clay-limestone soils of the Enclos, the heart of the Pauillac appellation, where Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in power and minerality.
- Vinification: Aged in new French oak barrels, with respect for long cycles to achieve a pure expression of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château Latour 1981
To the eye: A garnet robe with tawny highlights, dense and silky, betraying four decades of slow maturation.
On the nose: Aromas of candied blackcurrant, blond tobacco and cedar, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of aged leather, the signature of great Pauillac wines.
On the palate: Velvety texture, well-integrated yet still present tannins, lively acidity and a long finish with notes of graphite and liquorice, underpinned by a chalky minerality.
Serve at 16 °C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
