A legendary estate rooted in the gravels of Pessac-Léognan, where Bordeaux's exacting standards and heritage have intertwined for centuries.
- Terroir : Gravelly and clay-limestone soils, typical of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, lending the wines a distinctive minerality and structured elegance.
- Vinification : A meticulous blend, aged 18 to 20 months in oak barrels, producing cuvées that are both powerful and remarkably precise.
Tasting Notes for Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2003
- On the eye : A deep red robe with garnet highlights, dense and silkily brilliant, revealing a generous substance and beautiful maturity.
- On the nose : An intense bouquet where ripe black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), notes of gentle spices (liquorice, pepper), a delicate floral touch and a subtle chalky minerality mingle, evoking the gravels of the terroir.
- On the palate : A broad and velvety attack, carried by firm yet silky tannins, a lively acidity that brings tension, and a long, saline finish where aromas of undergrowth and cedar linger.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
