The Château Lafite Rothschild 2005, a jewel of Pauillac, is born on gravelly soils. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (89%), it unveils aromas of blackcurrant and cedar after ageing in oak barrels. On the palate, it combines power and minerality. Ideal with lamb, it will continue to improve until 2040.

Tasting notes for Château Lafite-Rothschild 2005
To the eye: a deep red robe with garnet reflections, dense and silky, like a mineral velvet unfurled in the light.
On the nose: first aromas of ripe blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by notes of cedar, golden tobacco and a hint of graphite – a complexity where freshness meets depth.
On the palate: a smooth yet taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a saline and persistent finish of rare elegance.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its purity.
Vintage 2005
A sunny vintage, where the summer drought concentrated the grapes into a rich and balanced expression, without excess.
- Ageing potential: 30 to 40 years; store in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from vibrations.
