Tasting notes for Château Léoville Poyferré 1985
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny reflections, dense and slightly veiled by time, revealing a velvety texture and generous substance.
On the nose – First aromas of candied blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by notes of cedar, golden tobacco and a touch of graphite, all lifted by a subtle mineral salinity.
On the palate – A silky attack, carried by lively acidity and a still-present tannic framework, while nuances of liquorice, leather and undergrowth stretch out into a long and chalky finish.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
