A large number of classifications have been drawn up for the great wines of Bordeaux.

  • The 1855 classification for the Grands Crus of the Left Bank (Médoc and Graves)
  • The Saint Emilion Grand Cru classification
  • The Graves classification
  • The Crus Bourgeois
  • ...

In this category, you'll find the wines from the 1855 Classification as well as the best Crus from the Saint Emilion Grand Cru classification.

  • Château Margaux: of exceptional quality, this benchmark of the Margaux appellation underwent a spectacular turnaround in the late 1970s, taking it to the top of the 1855 Classification. The wines are deep, opulently rich and extraordinarily complex, with aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry and sometimes violet, as well as vanilla and spicy oak. Very tasty and with great ageing potential, the purity of these wines attracts wine-lovers from all over the world.
  • Château Lafite Rothschild: Also of exceptional quality, and a symbol of the Pauillac appellation, Lafite Rothschild is a very great wine, rich, full-bodied and flavoursome, with typical scents of cedar, graphite and tobacco, and a great capacity for ageing, improving perfectly between 15 and 30 years in the cellar.
  • Château Latour: another symbol of Pauillac, the wines of this château come from vines that are an average of forty years old, combining the 4 red grape varieties of the Bordeaux region. This château is considered to be the most consistent of the crus classés at the highest level. Latour is powerful, tannic, concentrated, rich and intense. It develops aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco and sweet spices, while also having enormous ageing potential (20 to 40 years).
  • Château Mouton Rothschild: Another property of the Rothschild family, this wine is also of remarkable quality and has clearly deserved to have its classification revised to join the first classified growths of Pauillac. Mouton Rothschild produces sumptuous wines in its best vintages, many of which have been rated 100/100 by Parker. Made to keep, opulent, rich and flavoursome, with typical scents of crème de cassis, tobacco, coffee and oriental spices, Mouton is highly sought-after by connoisseurs and collectors thanks to its labels, which have featured the works of famous artists since 1945.
  • Haut Brion: the only Graves wine to feature in the Médoc wine classification! It is both a Premier Grand Cru Classé according to the 1855 classification, and a Grand Cru Classé of Pessac Léognan. It dominates all the other wines in its appellation by virtue of its sheer size! Superbly complex and with a rare aromatic elegance, it will improve for 30 years or more! This is a wine that has achieved a 100/100 Parker's rating 6 times, so with such notoriety, prices have soared.
  • Yquem: The only classified Premier Cru Supérieur in Sauternes and Barsac, Château Yquem is the world benchmark for sweet wines. The vines are around 35 years old and are planted with 75% Semillon and 25% Sauvignon Blanc. In great vintages, Yquem is opulent, fat, powerful, unctuous and full-bodied, with hints of orange marmalade, pineapple, apricot, peach, crème brûlée, spices and coconut. Exceptionally long, you'll need to wait at least 15 years before tasting it to enjoy the magnificent aromatic palette of evolved flavours. Some vintages can be aged for up to 100 years! This wine will leave a lasting impression!
  • Angélus: One of Saint Emilion's great wines, which achieved Grand Cru Classé A status in the eponymous appellation's classification in 2012. This great wine is excellent: colourful, precise and refined, while retaining a lovely freshness of fruit and elegance thanks to a high proportion of Merlot.
  • Ausone : Premier Grand Cru Classé A, biodynamic viticulture, 2 grape varieties only, 55% cabernet franc and 45% merlot, a special well-exposed terroir, Ausone stands out from the other Saint Emilion wines. Powerul and highly aromatic, with great freshness, it is an exceptional wine with an interminable finish after 10 to 15 years in bottle.
  • Pavie: Also Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint Emilion since 2012, its success was brought about by the arrival of oenologist Gérard Perse, who marked his arrival with the 1998 vintage, a symbol of the château's qualitative turnaround. Powerful, full-bodied, richly extracted with notes of cherry, blackcurrant, liquorice, spices and smoke, Château Pavie deserves a few years in the cellar to reveal its splendour.
  • Cheval Blanc: on the edge of the Pomerol appellation, Cheval Blanc is a great Saint Emilion wine. Voluptuous, exotic, very rich and deep, with notes of ripe blackcurrant, plum, cherry, menthol and leather, this wine also has magnificent length and immense concentration to delight the taste buds.
  • Figeac: A neighbour of Cheval Blanc, Figeac is a Premier Grand Cru Classé B of Saint Emilion. The 3 Bordeaux grape varieties are almost equally matched, making this wine stand out from the rest. It is a ruby-red wine, richly fruity with notes of various black fruits, mentholated, sprinkled with cedar and aromatic herbs, creating a beautiful harmony. It is best enjoyed young and will age honourably.
