- Terroir : Deep gravel soils and a limestone subsoil shape wines of mineral precision, emblematic of the Pauillac appellation.
- Vinification : A parcel-by-parcel approach and aging in French oak barrels reveal the elegance and complexity of the grands crus.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite-Rothschild 2003
To the eye – A deep, dense and silky purple robe, heralding generous substance and a velvety structure.
On the nose – A bouquet first marked by notes of cedar and graphite, then aromas of roasted cocoa, wild blackberry, and a saline touch, like a sea breeze over the gravel beds.
On the palate – A smooth and taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long and harmonious finish where black fruits and gentle spices intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.

A vintage marked by an exceptional heat wave, where the warmth concentrated the aromas and softened the tannins, yielding an atypical wine that is at once powerful and refined.
