Sourced from the black clays of Pomerol, the Pétrus 1981 is a rare Merlot, aged 20 months in new oak barrels. Notes of blackberry, liquorice and undergrowth, with a velvety and mineral palate. A wine of great ageing potential, now ready to drink, perfect with braised lamb for example.

Tasting notes for Pétrus 1981
To the eye: Garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density and a crystalline brilliance.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry, candied prune, cedar and black truffle, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of blonde tobacco.
On the palate: Velvety and taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long and persistent finish marked by notes of liquorice and cocoa.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.

A classic Pomerol vintage, combining concentration and balance, where the ripeness of the fruit meets the freshness of the tannins.
