- Terroir: Blue clay soils unique to Pomerol, conferring a mineral density and rare depth to the wines, in Bordeaux's most exclusive appellation.
- Winemaking: Meticulous aging in oak barrels, favoring the expression of the Merlot grape variety in all its complexity – silky, precise, unadorned.
Tasting notes for the wine Château Pétrus Pétrus 1977
On the eye: Deep garnet robe with brick-red highlights, of a velvety density, like a ruby polished by time.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry and stewed prune intertwine with notes of cedar, golden tobacco and damp undergrowth, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of graphite.
On the palate: Both smooth and taut in texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long and persistent finish, where gentle spices and lightly stewed black fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
