Château Lafite Rothschild
Heir to a two-hundred-year-old viticultural heritage, this mythical estate in Pauillac embodies the excellence of the great wines of Bordeaux, shaped by an exceptional terroir and an uncompromising tradition.
- Terroir : 112 hectares of deep gravels over a limestone subsoil, the cradle of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignons on the Left Bank, where the mineral character of the soils imparts to the wines their elegant signature and characteristic tension.
- Vinification : Aged in new French oak barrels, with respect for individual plots and slow fermentations to reveal the purity of the fruit and the complexity of the tannins, in a style that is both powerful and refined.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 1986
To the eye – A deep garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of silky density, where the light plays in copper-hued nuances, already betraying the maturity and concentration of the wine.
On the nose – First a vibrant freshness of blackcurrant and wild blackberry, quickly enveloped by deeper notes of cedar, blond tobacco and liquorice, before a saline, almost iodine-like touch underlines the chalky minerality of the terroir.
On the palate – A precise and taut attack, where lively acidity supports a velvety, almost fleshy texture, while the tannins, still firm yet smooth, release aromas of candied dark fruits and gentle spices; the finish, long and saline, leaves an impression of purity and balance, with each sip revealing a new layer of complexity.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass, to allow the wine to express itself fully.

A vintage marked by optimal grape maturity, where the summer heat and cool nights yielded wines of powerful structure while preserving a rare elegance.
- Aging potential : This wine, already at its peak, can continue to improve for 10 to 15 years under ideal storage conditions (stable temperature between 12 and 14°C, controlled humidity and away from light).
